It started out like every other day... I dropped my daughter off at the school bus stop and returned to my current daily chore -- moving 20 yards of fill dirt into the gully that once was my lawn. As you might have guessed, I'm one of those occasional gardeners who never appreciated the need for regular lawn maintenance...
but more about that later.
Today's major adventure was the planting of a semi-dwarf Green Gage plum tree. OK... I don't really know exactly what that is, but my wife picked it out at Wal-Mart, and the picture on the tree looked nice. The tag described it as Prunus Domestica 'Green'.
I wasn't really planning on planting anything today, but the weather was nice, our son was home from college and it was tactfully suggested to me that perhaps the two of us could get a tree planted today. I took the hint.
Of course, the first obstacle to overcome was deciding where to put the tree. After a few minutes of "maybe here... or how about over there... or over here would be nice", we finally settled on a home for the semi dwarf (which wasn't next to a lawn gnome).
