Lawn Care (or the lack thereof)

a manicured lawn (not mine)
As it appears that a recent blog entry has disappeared in the wake of the Blogger "oooops" event, I am re-posting some pics.

My lawn is always watered (by Mother Nature) and it's always fertilized (by herds of deer), but apparently proper lawn care means a bit more than that... who knew?

What I am facing this Spring can only be described as a man-made disaster.  For starters, the lawn was invaded by vast stretches of moss.  So I did some research and basically found out that this condition stems from neglect.  Duh.  Guilty as charged.  Anyway, I raked out the moss, applied moss retardant, threw down some lime, eliminated the thatch, and have just finished overseeding the entire yard...

... well almost the whole yard; the portion that contained the gully that needed 20 yards of fill dirt will finally be seeded tomorrow.  So here are the pictures that detail the current condition of my lawn:

hmmm... perhaps it's time to start caring about the lawn

These are called trashberries and they are spreading like wildfire
