Covered Wagon Planters

 
It's actually pretty easy to build a 2 foot by 4 foot planter.  A few 2x4's, a saw, and a power drill is pretty much all you need.  We build our planters on legs (because Rocky is a male dog and his contribution to the garden wouldn't exactly be in our best interest).  To make things a bit more interesting, my wife decided to add some PVC piping to create a series of arcs above the planter.  These arcs are then covered with a sheet of plastic, and presto!  -- a covered wagon planter has been created.

You might be wondering why she came up with this idea... well, she wanted to be able to start her plants outdoors early in the season and to protect them from the possibility of frost.  The covered wagon planters serve as a plant cold-frame.  A few pics:
